Karen is moving to Minneapolis!
Yup, her PhD mentor decided to take the job at the University of Minnesota, so the fabulous Beckman sisters will be reunited once again. I signed on to work for Dr. Vercellotti, so Karen's new lab will be right across the street from my lab. Granted, Washington Ave. get a lot more traffic than old Albretch Dr. did at NDSU, but it will be nice having her so close. It has been weird with her so far away. I know that Matt is just happy she doesn't want to live with us. Our job now is to find an affordable, quite, nice apartment close to the U that allows cats.....NOT any easy task.
For all those people who read this from Fargo, Matt and I will be gracing the Turf at 9:30 or so on Friday. I need to head back home to Jamestown to get some stuff done, but we are spending the night in Fargo to see Joan senior (why on earth did a marry a man whose mother has the same name as me?)
I survived my exam this morning. It is sort of ironic that the subject that I studied the least for (and skipped the most classes of) was the one I did the best in. After the exam I got to have lunch with my cousin Doug and his wife. They are in town because Doug is having surgery tomorrow to remove a spinal tumor. There is just something about my family and strange neurotumors..... Doug is in good health, so his surgeon is not expecting any major complications. I plan on stopping by the OR waiting room to see how things are going tomorrow. They don't need me around and I need to study. I will try to bake Doug some cookies and stuff, as I know the Fairview food isn't always the most palatable.
Well, that's about it for a Monday!
